Afghanistan — country guide
Capital, currency, languages, region and this passport's visa reach — all on one page.
Quick facts
Overview
The Afghan passport is the weakest in the world, with visa-free access to only 23 to 28 destinations. A few neighbours and Asian states are reachable, but visas for Europe, the United States, Canada and Australia are near impossible.
Before you go
This is a landlocked country, so you reach it overland through a neighbouring state.
In the northern hemisphere, April to September is generally the easier travel window.
Check the visa list below for your passport, and confirm rules with the embassy before you book.
Arrange vaccinations, insurance and a return ticket ahead of a long trip.
